Flint

Flint came into our lives in December 2024 during our New Year, New Life rescue campaign. When we saw him at the auction, our hearts sank. He was thin, sickly, and clearly neglected—but it was his front right hoof that stopped us in our tracks. Rolled completely backward, it was unlike anything we’d ever seen.

Once Flint was safe at our facility, our vet examined him right away. Strangely, despite the grotesque shape of his leg, he was walking with surprising ease—evidence that he had lived with this painful deformity for far too long. We took x-rays, expecting the worst, but were shocked to discover minimal bone damage. The cause? A severely contracted tendon that had forced his hoof to curl under over time.

Flint was quickly referred to the incredible team at the Marion duPont Scott Equine Medical Center, where he underwent tendon surgery. Afterward, the hospital’s farrier crafted a custom shoe to support his healing leg/hoof and gradually guide it back into the correct position.

Thanks to expert care, a long road of recovery, and lots of love - especially from his recovery buddy, Judd - Flint is now thriving. He’s happy, comfortable, and finally able to enjoy life the way every horse should.
